I finally scratched my Rendezvous itch with an iChat plug in for Miranda the multi-protocol Instant Messenger for Windows. It's a little rough and ready at the moment, but I'm working on smoothing it out. God I'm sick of hearing about Google's satellite map overlays. Multimap has been doing better for longer. Here's an aerial shot of my village , it overlays the map at the mouse's hover point. Lovely.
